Garrett Morgan was an African American inventor and entrepreneur who made significant contributions to Black history. He is most famously known for inventing the three-position traffic signal, which he patented in 1923. This invention helped improve road safety and regulate traffic flow in cities, ultimately saving countless lives.

In addition to the traffic signal, Morgan also invented the gas mask, which he patented in 1914. This invention proved to be invaluable during World War I, protecting soldiers from toxic gases on the battlefield.
